Galton Board

Invented in the 1800s, the Galton Board is a device that shows a mathematical standard distribution. In short, each ball has a 50/50 chance to go left or right at a peg, meaning there are many paths to the center but very few to get to the edges. This distribution can be found and applied in statistics, social sciences, physics and many other disciplines.

Made from Peruvian walnut, plexiglass, plywood and airsoft BBs, this is my first major woodworking project. It currently resides in my brother’s house which is why I have plans to make a bigger and better one for myself. Someday.
